WHEN DO WE SERVE?

We are open for grocery distribution:

  • Monday-Friday: 1-3 pm

  • Thursday: 6-8 pm

  • Saturday: 9:30-11:30 am

Food may be picked up by one member of the household once every two weeks. Surplus US Government food may be picked up once a month.

HOW TO REGISTER

During your first visit, you will be asked to provide proof that you are a Waukesha County resident by providing:

  • A current driver's license

  • A Social Security card*

  • A bill, bank statement or other similar piece of mail

If your driver's license does not list your current address, bring the license and two pieces of mail.

*If you do not have Social Security cards for each member of the family, provide alternative IDs, such as an insurance card, Forward Care or other documentation. Please call and ask if you need further information about alternate ID.

All registration information collected is kept confidential.  Social Security cards (or facsimile) are used to verify the number of people in a household.  Social Security cards are never copied and numbers are never transferred for filing or recordkeeping purposes.

You will be asked for information on sources of income, such as current monthly wages, unemployment compensation, etc.

Pantry clients will receive bags to transport groceries on their initial visit.  Pantry clients are responsible to provide their own bags on all following visits.

OTHER SERVICES PROVIDED BY THE FOOD PANTRY

  • Home delivery is provided on a limited basis for people who cannot get to the Food Pantry because of age or disability. The Food Pantry has reached the its capacity for home delivery requests and is no longer accepting requests for this service.
  • The Food Pantry runs a Food Recovery Program designed to gather safe donations from food producers, purveyors, farmers, caterers and restaurants. To date, 100 donors have participated and 55 agencies have received the donations
     
  • The Food Pantry is a contracted agent of, and serves 800 families through, the Temporary Emergency Food Assistance Program. This program allows income-eligible clients to receive additional food provided free to the Food Pantry from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

  • The Food Pantry is the only Waukesha County agent of the Stockbox Program through the USDA and Hunger Task Force, providing 40 pounds of food to registered income- and age-eligible clients. This government program has reached its maximum client level so qualified applicants will be placed on a waiting list.
  • The Special Diet Program is designed to meet the needs of people requiring special food to address medical conditions, such as allergies to dairy and gluten, along with those in need of low-sodium, low-sugar diets.

  • In addition to providing food, disposable diapers and personal hygiene items are also collected and distributed.
