How You Can Help

DONATE MONEY ...

Long-term relationships with food vendors and wholesalers allow us to maximize the purchasing power of each donated dollar used for obtaining food. Since the quantity and variety of donated foods fluctuate each year, monetary gifts provide us with the flexibility to provide the optimal nutritional mix of foods throughout the year. Financial contributions are also utilized to cover costs associated with operating the Food Pantry.

Financial contributions can also be mailed to: 215 W. North Street, Waukesha, WI 53188. Donors will receive acknowledgment letters for all financial contributions.

Donations via Automatic Withdrawal
Make giving more convenient with monthly donations automatically withdrawn from an account.  Many financial institutions provide this service with the completion of a form or two.  For more information, please contact your financial institution directly. Donors will receive acknowledgment letters for all financial contributions.

The Hunger Relief Fund

The Food Pantry of Waukesha County is a member of the Hunger Relief Fund, a coalition of the state’s leading anti-hunger agencies, which pools resources and expertise to work on the ground level providing nutritious food to those who need it most: children, the elderly, veterans and working families. Donations will purchase hot meals and stock pantry shelves with high-quality food. To receive Hunger Relief Fund of Wisconsin pledge forms, contact the Food Pantry of Waukesha County at 262.542.5300 or by e-mail at WaukeshaPantry@tds.net.

Planned Giving

Bequests and Gifts
A bequest is a gift of assets contained in a will.  Individuals or organizations may be named to receive gifts in a will. Bequests can be made in two forms, unrestricted and restricted.  Unrestricted Charitable Bequests provide the Food Pantry of Waukesha County (FPWC) with funds that can be used for general purposes, and in particular, for areas of the greatest need. Restricted Charitable Bequests require FPWC to use the gifts in a specific manner.  At best it is preferable for these types of bequests to be defined as broadly as possible.  Avoiding narrowly defined bequests ensures the effectiveness of the gift for both the donor and the recipient organization.

Letter of Intent
A Letter of Intent is a document by which you can notify FPWC of your intent to include the organization in your will. This Letter of Intent is not a legally binding document; it is only an expression of your present intent.  Knowledge of your intent will help the Food Pantry of Waukesha County plan for the future.

Various Options Available

Charitable Gift Annuity
You can make a gift of cash or securities to the Food Pantry of Waukesha County in exchange for a guaranteed lifetime annuity payment and receive several tax advantages.

Charitable Remainder Trust
With a gift of an asset to the Food Pantry of Waukesha County, you can receive income for a lifetime or a fixed period of time, claim a current tax deduction and make a future gift to the Food Pantry of Waukesha County.

Charitable Lead Trust
You can make a gift to a trust for either a fixed period of time or for life.  The Food Pantry of Waukesha County receives annual income for the duration of the trust, after which the trust distributes the remaining assets back to you or a named beneficiary.

Codicil
A codicil is simply an amendment to an existing will.  If you already have a will, you can add a new gift, change a provision, or delete a gift by making a codicil.  To add a codicil, one must consult an attorney, who can review your entire estate to ensure that the codicil enables you to achieve your wishes, goals and objectives.
